Douglas Keck

Owner & Mechanic

Doug Keck was born and raised in Wadsworth, Ohio. He attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa Oklahoma, where he received his A&P license and his IA.  While attending school, Doug worked at Tulsa Helicopters, Tusla Rotorblades and Tulsa Heliparts. After moving back to Ohio, he took a job at Aerodynamics at Skypark in Wadsworth and Skypark Flight Academy. Later, he purchased Aerodyamics and 1st Place Aviation opened in 2000, performing everything from oil changes to complete restorations. Doug's efforts at 1st Place were recognized in Cessna Flyers Magazine, American Bonanza Society and even Model Airplane News! After Skypark, Doug served as the Director of Maintenance for American Winds Avaition their FAA part 141 flight school and part 135 charter service until June of 2015. Doug started a new business venture, "Keck Aviation," as a mobile operation in May of 2014. He specialized in providing mobile maintenance services to multiple airports in Ohio. In July of 2016, Keck Aviation put down new roots at the Wayne County Airport in Smithville, Ohio and has welcomed three well qualified mechanics to help provide service in his new 10,000 maintenance facility! Of course, Doug is still able to travel to you, for the right price!  

Donnie Joliff

Lead Mechanic

Donnie was born and raised in Wooster, Ohio (Wayne County), and currently resides in Shreve, Ohio. Donnie has 12.5 years of aviation experience, to include 4 years of helicopter experience on AH-1N Cobras and UH-IN Huey in the United States Marine Corps from June of 1996 to March of 2001. Donnie has experience and skills that include avionics installation, metal fabrication and repair, aircraft restoration, interior fabrication and installation as well as performing other required aviation duties. Donnie has two sons, 18 and 7 and he has been with Keck Aviation for 2.5 years. Donnie was formerly with Aircraft Sales Inc, from March 2011 to July of 2016.

Jacob Streitel

A&P Mechanic

Jacob was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. He served in the United States Marine Corps from Jun 2013 to August 2018, while working on Helicopters, both Hueys and Cobras. Jacob is also a Huey Door Gunner. Jacob is in the Marine Corps Reserves and travels to Ft. Mcquire, New Jersey on a monthly basis. He is a car mechanic and enthusiast, and also a proud Dog Father.

Caleb Koczur

Apprentice Mechanic

Caleb is 19 years old and lives in Sterling, Ohio. Caleb has been working for Keck Aviation since September 2017 as an apprentice aircraft mechanic. Caleb has accumulated over 1,500 hours working on General Aviation aircraft. Becoming an aircraft mechanic is something Caleb has wanted to do since he was 15 years old, so this has been a dream come true for him. In 2 more years, Caleb hopes to have his A&P and then he wants to go for his IA. Caleb would like to get his commercial pilots license after that.
